Ozone Pollution in Chinese Cities: Spatiotemporal Variations and Their Relationships with Meteorological and Other Pollution Factors (2016–2020)

With the acceleration of urbanization, ozone (O3) pollution has become increasingly serious in many Chinese cities. This study analyzes temporal and spatial characteristics O3 based on monitoring meteorological data for 366 cities national weather stations throughout China from 2016 to 2020. Least squares linear regression Spearman’s correlation coefficient were computed investigate relationships with various factors conditions. Global Moran’s I Getis–Ord index Gi* adopted reveal agglomeration characterize hot cold spots. The results show that proportion an annual concentration exceeding 160 ?g·m?3 increased 21.6% 50.9% 2018 but dropped 21.5% 2020; these are concentrated mainly Central (CC) East (EC). Throughout most China, highest seasonal concentrations occur summer, while values South (SC) Southwest (SWC) autumn spring, respectively. monthly reached 200 North (NC) June, lowest value was 60 Northeast (NEC) December. is positively correlated ground surface temperature (GST) sunshine duration (SSD) negatively pressure (PRS) relative humidity (RHU).
